How is this different from a normal image upscaler?

A normal upscaler starts from your file and invents the pixels between the ones you have. Puw re-renders the scene at 4K first, so the detail is produced from the scene rather than extrapolated from a smaller copy of it.

What is the largest size I can get?

16K. The render itself is 4K native; 8K and 16K are upscales on top of that, which is enough for large-format print and billboard use.

Will small text survive the upscale?

Yes — printed text is treated as protected content and comes back character-for-character. This is where generic upscalers fail most visibly, turning prices and words into approximate shapes.

Can I upscale an old low-resolution photo?
